Joyce Mary is geboren te Singapore op 19 mei 1936 als dochter van van Robert Andrew Deans en Grace Marie Pennefather. Zij genoot haar basisonderwijs net als haar zuster Barbara op het CHIJ. Joyce Mary zat in het Japanse interneringskamp Sime Road te Singapore en droeg campnumber 1204. In haar schooljaren was Joyce kampioen rennen en hordelopen. ze werd gecoached door de bekende Singaporese coach Tan Eng Yoon. In de vroege jaren 50 vertegenwoordigde Singapore bij diverse sportgelegenheden. Na twee jaar Highschool in Singapore, reisde Joyce haar zuster Barbara achterna, die op dat moment in Hanoi woonde. Toen ze terug kwam van Frans Indo China, werkte ze als secretaresse voor een aantal buitenlandse bedrijven in Singapore en Kuala Lumpur. In Kuala Lumpur ontmoette en trouwde ze uiteindelijk Amerikaan Robert (Bob) Kimball, een bankier bij de Bank of America. Eenmaal met pensioen, vetrokken Joyce en Bob naar Amerika en settelden zich in Dallas, Texas. Helaas werd Bob al snel ziek en overleed. Joyce en Bob kregen samen een zoon.

Joyce Mary was born in Singapore on May 19, 1936 as daughter of Robert Andrew Deans and Grace Marie Pennefather. She received her primary education at CHIJ, just like her sister Barbara. Joyce Mary was in the Sime Road Japanese internment camp in Singapore and wore camp number 1204. In her school years, Joyce was a champion of running and hurdling. she was coached by well-known Singaporean coach Tan Eng Yoon. In the early 1950s Singapore represented at various sports venues. After two years of high school in Singapore, Joyce traveled after her sister Barbara, who was living in Hanoi at the time. When she came back from French Indo China, she worked as a secretary for a number of foreign companies in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. In Kuala Lumpur, she eventually met and married American Robert (Bob) Kimball, a banker at the Bank of America. Once retired, Joyce and Bob left for America and settled in Dallas, Texas. Unfortunately, Bob soon became ill and passed away. Joyce and Bob had a son together.
