Otto is geboren te Batavia op 13 juni 1924 als zoon van Louise Kessler en de uit Duitsland afkomstige Richard Liesendahl. Na de echtscheiding van zijn ouders blijft Otto bij zijn moeder wonen. Volgens de 'Locomotief' van 7 juni 1938 wordt Otto toegelaten tot de HBS te Bandung. Op die HBS is een klassenfoto gemaakt. De foto is van het eindexamenjaar in 1948. Otto is hier volgens de bron te vinden als 3e persoon van links zittend op het bankje.

Otto was born in Batavia on June 13, 1924 as the son of Louise Kessler and Richard Liesendahl from Germany. After his parents' divorce, Otto continues to live with his mother. According to the 'Locomotive' of 7 June 1938, Otto is admitted to the HBS in Bandung. A class photo was taken at that HBS. The photo is from the graduation year in 1948. According to the source, Otto can be found here as the 3rd person from the left sitting on the bench.
Als Otto klaar is met zijn HBS opleiding, vertrekt hij naar Australië om een nieuw leven op te bouwen. Australië bevalt hem echter niet. Gelukkig weet broer Hans te regelen dat Otto naar Duitsland kan komen en zo geschiedde. Otto komt in Duitsland terecht en onderhoud veel contact met diverse Kessler familieleden. Omdat hij in tegenstelling tot zijn broer na de scheiding van hun ouders in Indië is verbleven, blijft Otto een nauwe band met Nederland houden. Otto is nooit getrouwd geweest.
When Otto finishes his HBS education, he leaves for Australia to start a new life. However, Australia does not like him. Fortunately, brother Hans manages to arrange for Otto to come to Germany and that's how it happened. Otto ends up in Germany and maintains a lot of contact with various Kessler family members. Because, unlike his brother, he lived in the Indies after their parents' divorce, Otto continues to maintain a close relationship with the Netherlands. Otto has never been married.

In nummer 3 van oktober 2001 van een editie van G H E P E Y S E N K L O E K E D A E T, een Vereeniging van Oud-leerlingen van het Christelijk Lyceum te Bandoeng, lees ik dat Otto Liesendahl onlangs is overleden.
In issue 3 of October 2001 of an edition of G H E P E Y S E N K L O E K E D A E T, an Association of Former Pupils of the Christian Lyceum in Bandoeng, I read that Otto Liesendahl recently passed away.
